The student visa checklist we give every applicant

Every destination has different visa requirements, but the documents you need to start gathering are surprisingly consistent. Start collecting these as soon as you accept an offer, not after.
Identity and financial documents
- A passport valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay
- Proof of funds covering tuition and living costs
- Bank statements, usually covering the last 3–6 months
Academic documents
- Your offer letter or confirmation of acceptance
- Certified transcripts and certificates
- English proficiency test results (IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE, depending on destination)
Health and character requirements
- A medical examination, if your destination requires one
- Police clearance certificates, for some destinations and age groups
- Health insurance that meets your destination's minimum coverage requirements
Timing matters more than people expect
Visa processing times vary from a few weeks to a few months depending on the country and time of year. Applying close to your intake deadline is the single most common reason students miss their start date.
