Why Singapore
Singapore is a compact city-state of around 5.9 million people, and one of the most globally connected economies in the world — a genuine advantage if you're aiming for an international career straight out of university. It's also one of the most accessible destinations on this list, with strong flight connections across Asia and beyond.
The climate is tropical and consistently warm and humid year-round, with no real seasonal shift to plan around. Marina Bay Sands and the Gardens by the Bay anchor the skyline, while neighbourhoods like Chinatown and Little India give the city a density of culture that's hard to find in a country this small.
Because Singapore doesn't have the regional cost variation of a larger country, budgeting is comparatively simple — expect costs to sit toward the higher end for the region, offset by excellent connectivity and safety.
